Huo Haoming is from a tea-making family. His father established the Pingdu Tea House in Kunming in the 1930s. From inheriting his parents' business to multiple identities today — chairman of the Yunnan Province Tea Horse Ancient Road Research Association, president of the Yunnan International Tea Trade Center Company, guest professor at Yunnan Agricultural University's tea college — it can be said that he is a "tea merchant" with genes filled with tea scent and fragrance.
Huo Haoming was born into a family of tea merchants. His father had set up the Pinyin Tea House in Kunming as early as the 1930s. From taking over his predecessor's business to transforming into multiple roles today – chairman of Yunnan Province Tea and Horse Ancient Tea-Horse Road Research Association, president of Yunnan International Tea Trading Center Co., Ltd, and visiting professor of tea at Yunnan Agricultural University – it is not that he is a "tea merchant" filled with the aroma of tea in his genes. Rather, he is an old-road enthusiast who has devoted himself to tea culture; always saying: "Yunnan's tea culture should go out into the world and lead the trend."
"In the eyes of Hu Haoming, Yunnan's regional and ethnic characteristics have forged a unique tea culture. In 1990, a batch of scholars closely linked tea trade with ancient roads, not only forming an important historical juncture for the development of Yunnan tea culture, but also becoming an important turning point in Yunnan tea culture."
The horse brigade was the most active factor in the modern Pu'er tea trade, and it was precisely because the historical horse squad did not fear hardships and overcame numerous difficulties to enter the border areas that Pu'er tea could be continuously transported to various places, thus achieving large-scale production of Pu'er tea. In 2000, Hu Hao Ming enthusiastically gathered a batch of people who had an affection for Yunnan tea, actively planned and built the Yunnan Tea Wholesale Market and the Yunnan Tea Trading Market; in 2005, he revised the industry standards for Pu'er tea; in 2007, after the price of Pu'er tea plummeted, he improved the awareness and value of Pu'er tea and through "Pu'er Tea High-End Forum" allowed Yiwu tea farmers, old Baishan tea farmers to collectively appear on TV to promote famous tea mountains.
"The tea industry is the dawn industry," said Hu Haoming. "Along with China's rise, our Yunnan tea will also go to the top of the world. In simple terms, the world's tea is in China and China's tea hope can be seen from Yunnan."
The Tea-Horse Ancient Road has evolved into a cultural icon. With the advent of high-speed rail, Yunnan's geographical location and locational advantages are gradually becoming apparent. Traditional tea industry is actively responding to the national "Internet +" policy, constantly exploring new development patterns and marketing channels, driving the transformation and upgrade of Yunnan tea industry.
