Origin of tea
China is the country that discovered and used tea trees earliest in the world. In ancient times, the people had already discovered and made use of tea trees. As written in Shennong's Ben Cao Jing: "Shennong tasted hundred kinds of herbs every day, encountering seventy-two poisons, got rid of them with tea." There is a record that tea leaves were used as tributes in our country's Ba-Shu area from 1122 to 1116 BC.
Beauty Legend
Tea was a major discovery for the Chinese as a beverage. Its use goes back to antiquity, and is almost as old as the use of medicinal plants. Probably in pre-collecting and hunting times, ancient humans found it while tasting hundred herbs. Its use went through several different phases, from edible to medicinally useful, finally to drinkable.
During the Eastern Han period, there was a legend that Shennong tried 72 poisons from different plants every day. A long time ago, people said that Shennong, who invented agriculture and medicine and is called "Shennong" by later generations, used to try all sorts of plants in his search for medicinal herbs. One day he had eaten 72 poisonous plants successively and was poisoned, his stomach aching and his body burning. He lay down under a tree to rest.
From this time on, tea was passed down from generation to generation in the world. It is said that tea, which was originally used as a medicine and then became both a drug and a beverage, was recognized and transmitted by Shennong after repeated testing through multiple times of drinking.
