Tea, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, tea. Tea is a thirst-quenching tea. Music, chess, books, paintings, poetry, wine, and tea are all tea that relieves boredom. For some people, tea is the "way of tea", which is profound; for some people, it is the "tea culture" which is elegant; but to us, it is just simple daily life. The way of tea is an art in our everyday life, a mannerism of living and taking care of oneself, as well as social norms.

Rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar and tea. Tea is a type of thirsty-quenching tea.

Chess and books, calligraphy and painting, poetry and wine, tea is a relieving tea.

Tea, to some, is a profound "tea ceremony"; tea, to others, is an elegant "tea culture"; and for us, it's simple everyday life.

The art of tea is an art in daily life, the etiquette of living and residing, as well as a social norm. The emphasis of the art of tea lies in people communicating their warm spirits to each other under the harmonious and quiet atmosphere. It is a feast of beauty that appeals to the senses on the highest level, increasing the appreciation for clothing, food, housing and transportation, and it also sets out a model standard for everyday life, which is the culture of tea.

Tea can be very deep, very elegant, tea can also be very ordinary. Do you remember when I was in college, saw classmates with hot water directly drink, felt very unimaginable, our village, only take Western medicine will use hot water to help the medication, but in daily life, either drinking cold water to relieve thirst, or drink tea water brewed in a large teapot, or pour boiling water over tea. When studying abroad, every time I miss home, just brew a cup of tea, it's the taste of my hometown.

When I was a kid, my mom would cook rice and porridge every day. She'd use the big pot to boil water first, then put steamer in it with half-cooked rice in it. The big pot is clean after boiling the porridge and there's no oil smell in it, so when she boils water again, it will be cleaner. After filling two hot water bottles with boiled water, she would pour a whole teapot of hot water to steep tea leaves in it. When I was thirsty from going up the mountain, I could just drink a big bowl straight away; and if we had guests coming over, my mom would use the hot water in the thermos to make tea for them quickly and conveniently.

When I was a child, I always looked forward to having guests at home. Guests were offered sweet tea (tea with sugar) and some small snacks while the adults sat around the table chatting about their harvests, personal matters, and gossip. The little kids would sit on the side drinking the sweet tea as if they were watching a movie.

In our daily life, 365 days a year cannot do without tea, tea is the one to quench our thirst every day, and it is also the tea that we entertain guests with. The income from family expenses is still tea. The time of picking tea leaves is from March to October, and almost every day has to go up the mountain to pick tea during this period. For more than four-thirds of the year, the family's income comes from tea leaves. To us, tea is not just a drink, but also our treasured treasure that supports us.

During the time I was in school, every weekend or summer vacation, we had to go up the mountain to help with tea picking. The road going up the mountain was very narrow at that time and the climb took over 30 minutes; it took even longer to get down with the baskets of tea weighing heavy on our shoulders. Our house is actually not far from the foot of the mountain, but to us kids, going up the mountain was an ordeal that could feel like a journey through a thousand miles.

Our parents came up with a reason for our hard work: "Not studying hard, working harder and only then will you know how to study hard." At that time, there was no other economic source, and all our tuition fees were paid from tea, now we also understand the kind of helplessness their generation felt. A single leaf tree supports one side of the villagers and sends us out of the mountains.

Literally, "tea" is about the fragrance of tea wafting from the table when entertaining guests, or holding a warm cup in one's hands while chatting with neighbors at noon or dusk. For farmers who rarely have leisure time, happiness can be simple: a warm cup of tea is enough.

Endlessly living tea, nourishing the endlessly living us, tea to us is not a profound way of tea, it's not a refined tea culture, but a daily life that permeates our blood vessels; is the flavor of home, beautiful memories, and tired solace; is our fundamental reliance for survival, an indelible mark carved into our genes.
