Drinking tea requires quiet, especially in a bustling city. Tea gives people time and space to relax. However, when one gets used to drinking tea, they become more calm and sit at the tea table most of the time. This brings new problems: standing for too long or sitting for too long can hurt your body.
Long Station
Some people need to stand for a long time at work, and after returning home, it is also a habit to brew tea while standing. If this continues over time, it can cause damage to the human body on varying levels.
Increased risk of heart disease
Researchers have done a survey on this issue. They studied over 7,000 workers who stand for most of the day and found that while their mental health and physical condition are better than those of sedentary workers, they were twice as likely to get heart disease.
Blood accumulation in large amounts.
If a person stands still for too long, blood will accumulate in large quantities on the legs, and it takes heart a lot of effort to pump blood back to the head. It would take longer than sitting down. As a result, with increased heart strain, the body is more likely to fall ill.
Prolonged sitting
Prolonged standing is bad for you, and prolonged sitting will also cause damage to your body.
Metabolic effects
Compared to standing, the body's metabolic rate decreases by about 30% when sitting for a long time, which further affects intestinal peristalsis and worsens digestive function. After eating a full meal, the things that can't be metabolized will convert into fat and accumulate in the body as feces like the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, leading to obesity.
Affecting blood circulation
When a person sits for long periods, the body is in a state of compression, which increases the time it takes for blood to circulate from the legs up to the head, causing inadequate blood supply to the brain and resulting in high blood pressure. Furthermore, prolonged pooling of blood in the legs can also cause them to become swollen and varicose.
Stiff body
Prolonged sitting can cause muscles to lose elasticity and become stiff. Long periods of sitting will also cause damage to the body's joints and tendons. After a long time sitting, you may unconsciously stretch your arms or turn your neck.
"Stillness is scarier."
Well, the phrase says "long time" in both cases, so it seems that sitting and standing are not the main points of this sentence. The "long time" is the decisive point here; a long time is unbearable for the human body.
"Idle is waste." This phrase also suits here. Each part of our body will degenerate in function if it's not used for a long time, just like someone who has been lying down for a long time would become sicker and weaker.
In other words, your body movement is equivalent to the function of your body. If you reduce physical activity, brain cell activity will also slow down, and reaction delay, forgetfulness, and slowed metabolism, blood circulation, intestinal peristalsis are all related to your body's physical activities. If you increase them, they can naturally improve "efficiency."
The Four Steps to Improve Your Situation
Kicking the abdomen (waist)
Clasps both hands into hollow fists, then forcefully tap the lumbar vertebrae with the back of one's hand. Alternately strike the two sides of the lower back with a slow and rhythmic motion, gradually increasing strength to areas which cannot be reached by hand.
Active head
Exercise the head to loosen up the neck. Make small circular motions with your head, then sway it back and forth. Finally lean against the back of the chair with your hands crossed in the back of your neck for a few seconds. This routine can be repeated.
Walking on tiptoes
Lift both feet with the heels, place the toes on the ground and make an up-and-down movement. This action can not only relax the muscles of the legs but also improve blood circulation for both legs.
Leisurely stroll
In addition to these three ways of moving, some gentle stretching can help regulate the state. Whether you sit for a long time or stand for a long time, it is necessary to stretch to ensure smooth blood circulation. For example, you can walk around in the park after dinner and adjust your unhealthy state in the daytime.
Anciently there was the saying "Do a little at the right time, and don't overdo it", nowadays everything follows the principle of "marginal utility decreases", which simply means that no matter how beneficial something is, once you've passed the equilibrium point, the points where it benefits the human body will decrease, while the points where it harms them will increase.
So, tea lovers should remember to arrange their lives reasonably; stand and drink tea for a while, sit down and take a walk outside, stroll and enjoy sunshine and nature. This is the happy life.
